SAME-SEX
MARRIAGES: WHY “NOT?”
By: Fr. Javier Gonzalez
Abstract
The article, written by Fr. Javier Gonzales, the Regent of the Faculty
of Civil Law of the
University of Santo Tomas and a Doctor in Canon Law, deals with the question
of whether legal
recognition should be accorded to same-sex marriages. It discusses in
detail why same-sex marriages should “NOT” be allowed, using
reason and logic as well as with supporting authorities. In the words
of Fr. Gonzales, marriage is not just any intimate relationship, but rather
a normative, social, familyoriented institution, whose basic reason for
being is the society’s survival.
