UNDERSTANDING
REBELLION
By: Ethel R. Molina
Abstract
Rebellion, or insurrection as it is also known, is basically a crime punishable
under the Revised
Penal Code. The novel concept of “State of Rebellion,” which
the President of the Philippines
apparently has the power to declare under 1987 Constitution, changes the
whole understanding of Rebellion. The new concept becomes more significant
especially when paired with the issue on whether or not it is tantamount
to a declaration of martial law. It is in this context by which the concept
of Rebellion is discussed, especially in light of the infamous Oakwood
mutiny.
